National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium

Virginia Beach, VA

The National JSHS brings together 245 high school students who qualify by submitting and presenting original scientific research papers in regional symposium held at universities nationwide. Approximately 130 high school teachers, mentors, university faculty, military personnel, and others also attend and join in encouraging the future generation of scientists and engineers and celebrating student achievement in the sciences.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Conference

San Antonio Riverwalk San Antonio, Texas

NDSEG fellows from the 2021 class will have the opportunity to network and hear from DoD national leaders and subject matter experts in the field of science, technology, and engineering for a riveting week that showcases ongoing research activities relevant to the national defense mission.

Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship Applications Open!

The SMART Program provides STEM students with the tools needed to pursue higher education and begin a rewarding career with the DoD. With a full scholarship, students pursuing STEM degrees will be able to focus on complex research to further the DoD’s mission and create a lasting impact. Summer internships are performed at DoD facilities alongside scientists and engineers; these experiences prepare scholars for full-time employment and get them accustomed to working with the DoD. SMART is a one-for-one commitment; for every year of degree funding, the scholar commits to working for a year with the DoD as a civilian employee.

Student STEPCon is the premier student STEM conference in the Inland Empire! Participants can experience hands-on Science experiments, interactive technology exhibits and Roundtable discussions, an exciting Science Show, and visit one-on-one with college educators and industry professionals, and enjoy thrilling presentations and demonstrations from a variety of exhibitors. The experience is targeted for 4th grade through 12th grade students.

Naval Station Norfolk’s Fleet Fest

This event provides relevant and engaging opportunities to educate, inspire and connect STEM to America’s youth. During STEM Day 2,500 Norfolk Public School 5th graders and will travel to the base and engage in STEM activities, static displays and ship tours. This is a closed event.
