Dr. Leah Kelley is a mechanical engineer in the Unmanned Systems Advanced Development Group at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific. Her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence Planning and Human-Autonomy Teaming. Dr. Kelley serves as the cross-warfare center Autonomy Working Group lead for Unmanned Surface Vessel programs managed by PMS-406, and is a Contract Officer’s Representative for the DARPA OFFSET program. Prior to joining NIWC-PAC, Leah completed her Science Master’s (2011) and PhD (2015) in Mechanical Engineering at MIT in the Field and Space Robotics Lab under Professor Steven Dubowsky. Her graduate research focused on thermal management and control and on prognostic, adaptive maintenance for small, community-scale, solar powered reverse osmosis systems. She received her Bachelor’s of Engineering from the City College of New York (2008). Prior to pursuing a career in engineering, Leah danced professionally for 10 years in New York City, and has a BFA in Dance from the Boston Conservatory.
